BlackCat Design
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our apps, websites, support channels, and related services.
1. Scope
This Policy applies to Black Cat Design apps and related services, including but not limited to:
- Receipt Scanner Pro
- Capture Plus Pro
- Other Black Cat Design mobile apps published now or in the future, unless a separate privacy policy is provided for a specific app
This Policy applies to users in Canada, the United States, and other regions where our apps may be available.
2. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on which app you use and which features you choose to enable.
A. Information you provide
Depending on the app, this may include:
- Photos, videos, scans, receipts, or other media you capture, import, edit, organize, or store
- Text, notes, labels, folder names, item descriptions, totals, categories, or other content you enter
- Support messages, feedback, or other communications you send to us
B. Account and authentication information
If an app uses sign-in or account features, we may collect:
- Sign in with Apple credentials or tokens needed to authenticate your account
- Internal account identifiers
- Session or authentication tokens
Some Black Cat Design apps may not require accounts at all. In those cases, we do not collect account information unless you contact support or use a connected service.
C. Purchase and subscription information
If an app offers in-app purchases or subscriptions, we may collect:
- Product identifiers
- Transaction status
- App Store receipt or transaction data needed to verify purchases or entitlements
- Restore-purchase or billing verification data
We do not receive your full payment card number. Apple handles payment processing for App Store purchases.
D. Device and technical information
We may collect limited technical information such as:
- App version and build number
- Device type and operating system version
- Bundle identifier
- Basic diagnostic, crash, security, and operational log information
- Request metadata needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot our services
E. Permissions-based information
Depending on the app and the permissions you grant, an app may access:
- Camera
- Microphone
- Photo library
- Face ID / Touch ID or device authentication features
For many Black Cat Design apps, this access is used only on-device to provide app functionality and is not transmitted to our servers unless a specific cloud, AI, sync, or account feature requires it.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information:
From service providers acting on our behalf, where applicable
- Directly from you
- Automatically from your device during app operation
- From Apple services, such as App Store purchase status, Sign in with Apple, or Photos-related APIs

4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide core app features
- Save, organize, display, protect, or process your content
- Authenticate users and manage account sessions where applicable
- Verify in-app purchases, subscriptions, and feature entitlements
- Support private, locked, or protected content features
- Respond to support requests
- Monitor reliability, debug issues, and improve app performance
- Detect misuse, abuse, fraud, or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use personal information for unrelated advertising profiling.
5. App-Specific Notes
Because our apps may have different features, the following app-specific rules also apply:
A. Camera, photo, and media apps
Apps such as Capture Plus Pro may request access to the camera, microphone, and photo library in order to:
- Capture photos or videos
- Save media to your device or photo library
- Import, export, move, or organize media
- Protect content using private folders or device-authentication features
Where these features work entirely on-device, your content may remain stored locally on your device unless you explicitly export, share, sync, or upload it.
B. Scanner, OCR, AI, or receipt-processing apps
Apps such as Receipt Scanner Pro may process scans, receipts, text, and structured content to:
- Extract or organize information
- Categorize content
- Power AI-assisted parsing or suggestions
- Support account-based or subscription-based features
If a specific feature sends content to a server or third-party processor, that occurs only as needed to provide that feature.
6. Legal Bases and Consent
Where Canadian law applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information:
- With your consent, where required
- For purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances
- As otherwise permitted or required by law
You may withdraw consent in some cases, subject to legal, contractual, technical, or operational limitations.
7. Disclosure of Information
We may disclose information to:
- Service providers that help us operate our apps and services
- Apple, where needed for App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple, device APIs, or platform functionality
- Analytics, infrastructure, authentication, AI, storage, or monitoring providers, if used for a particular app
- Authorities, regulators, legal counterparties, or other parties when required by law
- A successor or buyer in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards
We do not sell personal information for money.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Cross-Border Data Transfers
We operate in Canada and the United States. Depending on the app and services used, information may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Information may be subject to lawful access by courts, law enforcement, or national security authorities in those jurisdictions.
9. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including legal, accounting, security, support, and dispute-resolution needs.
Depending on the app, retention may vary:
- Account information: while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward
- Purchase and entitlement records: as needed to verify access, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations
- User content: until deleted by you, removed under app controls, or deleted under operational/legal retention schedules
- Logs and diagnostics: for a limited period needed for security, debugging, and operational reliability
When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize, or securely destroy it where reasonably possible.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle, including measures such as:
- Encryption in transit where applicable
- Access controls
- Least-privilege practices
- Authentication and token protections
- Security monitoring and incident response practices
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information and improve safeguards over time.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of personal information
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Appeal certain privacy-rights decisions
- Complain to a privacy regulator
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
12. Children’s Privacy
Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice in-app, on our website, or by other reasonable means, and we will update the Last Updated date above.
